About J. R. Reynolds

J.R. Reynolds is an anti-oppression/diversity equity & inclusion (DEI) consultant, and certified professional coach focused on intersectionality work, including race, gender, sexual orientation, ability and class. He is Director of Special Projects for New Jersey-based Beyond Diversity, which informs, educates and trains organizations and individuals on issues related to systemic and institutional racism and oppression, as well as organizational development. J.R. also works with the W.K. Kellogg Foundation initiative: Truth, Racial Healing and Transformation (TRHT). He also works as a leadership coach to help staff in the education and nonprofit sectors unleash their natural creative potential and harness untapped inner resources to achieve greater professional and personal growth. He formerly sat on the Michigan Good Food steering committee, which works to advance the state’s food system. There he was chair of the racial equity action team. In addition, he is a former contributor to NPR radio affiliate WMUK. A former Billboard magazine editor, J.R. also worked for the strategic marketing communications firm Williams Group. He is active in the giving community and Board President for The Arc of Calhoun County. He has also served on the boards of the Better Business Bureau\'s Wise Giving Alliance in Washington, DC, Michigan-based Guardian Finance and Advocacy Services, and as board president for Woman\'s Co-op in Battle Creek, Mich. Specialties: anti-oppression training, equity-centered organizational change & leadership coaching, nonprofit marketing communications, and food and housing systems justice. Interests: running, fathering, Black studies, cosmology, quantum field theory.
