ABOUT J. ROSS MITCHELL

Accomplished medical professional with 25-year history of success building interdisciplinary teams for research and delivering innovative solutions in AI, Machine Learning, and Deep Learning for precision healthcare. H-index: 37 (~98th percentile – Medical Informatics)Key Accomplishments:Deep Learning for Brain Tumor MRI Analysis - Formed and lead an international collaboration to develop a deep learning system for analysis of clinical MRI exams of brain cancer patients. Created a pipeline with multiple 3D DNNs to: enhance the MR exams; segment the brain even in the presence of major pathology; segment brain tumors; label anatomical regions; and, extract image signatures for predictive analytics. System runs in the cloud in 1 - 2 mins. per MR exam. Recruited 20 neuroradiologists to perform the rst randomized blinded comparison of human and DNN segmentation. They judged the DNN results to be better, on average, than those from the technicians who created the DNN training data. The Division of Medical Imaging Informatics, Mayo Clinic AZ – Recruited, supervised, and mentored a dynamic team including 2 PhD scientists, 3 post-docs, 4 PhD students, and multiple MSc & BSc students. Improved precision health via rapid, simple, and secure access to medical images and reports, anywhere. Project success prompted Mayo to procure Enterprise mobile image viewing technology. Imaging Clinical Outcomes & Response Evaluation (iCORE) Lab – I co-founded a new lab to deliver individualized reports of cancer treatment response. Overwhelming positive feedback from clinical staff prompted Mayo to budget for iCORE lab costs in new clinical trials. Improved Organ and Lesion Volume Measurement – Served as leader and visionary for project to invent and create a new Rapid-Accurate-Simple general-purpose tool for organ and lesion volume measurement.Connect with me today to find out how I will make your mission my mission.
