ABOUT JOYLENE C.
A high-school teacher once told me “you would be a great artist if you would just hurry the f* up!” Harsh. However, it crystallized something in me: the concept of “quality over quantity.” In everything I do – whether it is a hobby or my profession – I will always prioritize the quality of the results. More is not necessarily better if the quality is lacking or suffers as a result. With over 17 years of success implementing sustainable program improvements that increase efficiency and quality, I have a keen eye for detail, a creative approach to problem-solving, and a people-centered perspective. I have always loved making lists - visualizing and plotting the process and then digging into the work. Likewise, my background in the arts trained me to always consider multiple perspectives and remain nimble in the process. A well-crafted artwork or project far exceeds ten mediocre ones any day. I have adapted my love of investing care into my work to fit within the material and time constraints given in a project or program and scale it accordingly to get it done correctly and on time. I deeply value and enjoy engaging with an audience. There is something electric about working with others and starting a dialogue that will carry on into the future. Seeing the gears turn in people\'s heads and challenging ideas or processes together has so much power to fortify a team, community, and the organization at large. We all have different strengths, abilities, and experiences which give us our unique voices. The many ways we can orchestrate that potential and collaborate fascinates me. The world seems to move at warp speed these days and everything begs for our attention, so I feel it is particularly crucial to build a space that is welcoming and reminds us all that we are only human. Sometimes we need to step back, laugh a little, and very literally break bread together to keep our spirits up and keep moving in the right direction.
