ABOUT JOYEETA CHATTERJEE
With 10+ years\' specialisation in aerospace, Joyeeta Chatterjee advises on legal risk management in the aviation industry. Having worked with law firms, private companies, international NGOs as well as government agencies, she has extensive international experience in the commercial sector. Besides considerable expertise in multidisciplinary research projects, and authoring articles and white papers, including contributions to United Nations reports, she has also presented her research at international conferences with acclaim. In 2014, she won the Diedericks-Verschoor Award for the best scholarly research paper by a young author at the Annual Symposium of the International Institute of Space Law.Owing to her passion for space advocacy and international space collaboration, Joyeeta has worked with the Space Generation Advisory Council (SGAC), a United Nations-affiliated youth organisation addressing international space policy. She co-founded the SGAC Space Law and Policy Working Group to analyse and comment on issues at the intersection of law and policy within the space sector. In recognition of her contributions, she was awarded the 2011 SGAC Young Leader Award. Selected by a panel of senior industry executives, she was also conferred the prestigious Promise Award 2017 by the Space and Satellite Professionals International in recognition of her outstanding early career achievements and future leadership potential in the industry.Joyeeta earned her B.A. and LL.B, with first-class honours, from India. She received her master’s degree in aviation and space law from McGill University in Montreal, where she was an Arsenault fellow and won the N.M. Matte Prize for outstanding performance in space law. She is also an alumnus of the International Space University.
