About Joy Dubost

With more than 20 years of experience, Dr. Dubost is a health and wellness expert and food industry leader with both domestic and global corporate and trade association experience. She has an extensive background in identifying consumer trends coupled with supporting science to enable business opportunities while maintaining regulatory compliance. She is currently employed at Lipton Tea & Infusions as the Head of Global Health Science & Scientific Affairs. She previously served as Head of Nutrition & Health, Unilever, North America. After four years with Unilever their global tea business was sold and with this brought a new opportunity to join Lipton Tea & Infusions. Prior to joining Unilever she served as the Senior Director of Science and External Affairs at the Beer Institute where she managed scientific affairs. She has also served as the Senior Director of Nutrition at the National Restaurant Association where she provided leadership and expertise on a wide spectrum of food science and nutrition issues related to the restaurant and foodservice industry. In this role, she was responsible for the development and implementation of the award winning, nationally recognized children’s dining program called Kids LiveWell. She was also employed as a Senior Scientist for six years at PepsiCo. Dr. Dubost is a frequent speaker to health professionals and the public. She has received numerous prestigious honors, including being inducted into the national honor society, Phi Kappa Phi. Dr. Dubost served as a national media spokesperson for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics for five years. She is frequently quoted in local and national publications, including USA Today, WSJ, Discovery, LA Times, and NY Times and has made several radio and television appearances, including NBC Washington, NPR, CBS News, and FOX News. Dr. Dubost earned an undergraduate degree in Nutrition and Chemistry from Hood College, a master’s degree in Food Science from the University of Georgia and a doctorate in Food Science from Pennsylvania State University. She completed her dietetic internship at the University of Michigan Hospitals. She is also a home brewer, completed Intensive Brewing Science for Practical Brewing at UC Davis Extension and is a Beer Steward with the Master Brewers Association of the Americas.

Identify and work with academia and research consultants to execute the companies external research focused on cardiometabolic health while maintaining the budget to deliver publishable scientific studies that drive brand communications and claims.• Ensure global compliance of current portfolio of tea and herbal beverages and supplements while supporting innovation projects in conformance with consumer safety and regulatory requirements.• Develop and implement a 360 approach for science-based health science communications focused on cardiometabolic health tailored to various audiences, including healthcare professionals, retailers, customers, influencers, KOLs, and the general public. • Develop and lead an effective global advocacy strategy through external outreach which includes industry and professional associations and partnerships to lead business interest and enhance reputation.• Identify new opportunities in health science for the business and communicate back to key internal stakeholders to drive business impact relevant to the portfolio. • Partner with R&D, legal and brand teams to ensure correct translation of science for scientific claims across all communication channels while ensuring regulatory compliance. • Serve as the scientific media spokesperson for global markets on health science related topics.
