As a founding member of EMWNLaw, Joyce represents clients in a wide variety of industries. She is an experienced litigator in all forums from administrative agencies through all levels of appeal in state and federal courts. Joyce focuses her practice on administrative law, healthcare law, trademarks, complex litigation, OSHA, bad faith, Medicaid hearings and appeals, and contracting, consulting, compliance and transactional work for managed care organizations and physicians. Joyce won the pivotal Kentucky Supreme Court decision on standing. The Kentucky Supreme Court adopted the United States Supreme Court’s test for standing as set forth in Lujan v. Defenders of Wildlife, 504 U.S. As a part of her healthcare practice, Joyce provides full service representation to medical practices in issues ranging from privacy, litigation, contracting, and transactional matters including buying and selling of such practices. In administrative hearings, Joyce is both a litigant for businesses and a Hearing Officer. She represent businesses in OSHA hearings and Medicaid hearings. She also serves as a hearing officer for classified employee hearings for the University of Louisville and local school boards across the state. She also serves as a Title IX Hearing Officer for the University of Louisville, Eastern Ky University, and the University of Kentucky. She was a hearing officer for the Kentucky Retirement Systems for over a decade.In the trademark arena, Joyce represent small businesses in formation and protection of their intellectual property through copyright and trademark applications. She will strategically partner with small business owners at their inception to help build a protectable brand through trademarks, contacting, social media, and influencer agreements.
