As a Golden Apple Scholar, I have committed to working towards being a highly effective teacher, especially in Illinois schools of need. With the program, I receive teacher preparation, support, and tuition assistance in order to fulfill my goals to become an elementary school teacher. Every summer I participate in scholar institutes in which I learn important pedagogy and gain classroom experience- July 2019: Was a Teacher\'s Assistant in a 3rd-grade classroom. I tutored a small group of students in math and reading skills at Lawndale Community Academy-June and July 2020: Worked on Civic Engagement project with fellow scholars on how to incorporate social justice throughout all subjects in classroom. We comprised a website of resources, tools, and possible lessons for teachers and other future educators to use.(linked below)-June and July 2021: Was a Teacher\'s Assistant in a 4th/5th grade classroom at Washington Elementary School in Evanston for the McGaw YMCA summer program-June and July 2022: Was a Teacher\'s Assitant in a 3rd-5th grade classroom at Lincoln Elementary School in Evanston for their ESY program
