ABOUT JOYCE AYOSON

My name is Joyce Ayoson.I’m not interested in building AI just because we can. I care about what happens before and after it’s deployed, who it affects, who it fails, and who gets held accountable.Right now, I work on the technical side, building and automating systems as an AI Consultant & RPA Developer in regulated financial environments. I’ve seen how quickly “efficient” systems can become risky when governance is an afterthought. That tension is what drives my work.I’m completing my Master of Management in Artificial Intelligence at the Schulich School of Business, where I focus on responsible AI, governance, and policy, not as theory, but as something that has to actually hold up in real organizations. My background brings together AI, law, and data, from researching algorithmic bias and informed consent, to contributing to access-to-justice work, to building a strong foundation in econometrics and data analysis.Outside of work, I’m a Vector Institute Scholar and VP of Learning & Development at the Schulich AI & Analytics Society, where I build programming and industry partnerships around AI governance and real-world implementation.Long term, I’m working toward tech law, but right now, I’m focused on roles in AI governance, responsible AI, and trust & safety, where I can help shape how these systems are actually deployed.Because the real question isn’t whether AI is powerful, it’s whether we’re building systems we can stand behind.
