About Joy Marini

Joy Marini is Senior Director of Maternal Health for the Office of the Chief Medical Officer (OCMO), Johnson & Johnson. Her previous position was as Global Director of Insights, Global Community Impact. She works with a team to drive change toward improving the health of women and reducing maternal mortality in the United States and globally. In her past roles at Johnson & Johnson, she established partnerships to improve 1) access to a skilled health workforce, 2) maternal-newborn and child health, and 3) women’s and girls’ empowerment. She has designed and led partnerships with UN, Civil Society and Government entities to implement sustainable programs to improve health. These collaborations prioritized clinical skills-building, leadership strengthening, and holistic support of the health system that integrates aspects of equity and empowerment. Joy developed public-private partnerships including Born on Time with Global Affairs Canada and the governments of Mali, Bangladesh and Ethiopia, Survive & Thrive with USAID, and the China Neonatal Resuscitation Program with the Chinese Ministry of Health, which is now in its 14th year and scaled to >90% of maternity facilities. She developed a 3-year enterprise-wide partnership with UNICEF, which was launched on World Children’s Day 2018. Joy led the Johnson & Johnson 5-year commitment to the United Nations’ Every Newborn Action Plan 20••••20, and a commitmen within the Johnson & Johnson Citizenship and Sustainability Health for Humanity goals to strengthen the skills and knowledge of birth attendants and mothers in 20 countries. Joy holds a Bachelor of Science in animal science and agriculture from Western Kentucky University, an MBA from Rider University, and a Master of Science, Physician Assistant from UMDNJ-Rutgers. She is on the Boards of Global Health Council and GBCHealth. Prior to joining Johnson & Johnson, Joy was in clinical practice as a PA in family medicine and geriatrics.
