ABOUT JOANNE JO VERTANNES
I am a strategic, values-driven leader with almost 20 years’ experience across the voluntary, community, and social enterprise sectors. I specialise in transforming bold, community-led visions into sustainable, high-impact organisations that champion inclusion, creativity, and community resilience. I believe deeply in the power of community action: when communities work together, the possibilities for positive change are endless. By facilitating listening and mobilising collective action, I empower community members—particularly those experiencing social and economic disadvantage—to influence positive social change, strengthen resilience, and build their collective voice.Currently, I serve as Interim CEO of a community regeneration project, leading hybrid strategic mapping, planning, social impact, and evaluation alongside hands-on operational support across multi-business functions. I oversee strategy, governance, finance, fundraising, HR, and programme delivery, having grown organisations from small teams to over 60 staff and volunteers. I have secured multiple contracts— including local authority and Early Intervention programmes—and embedded participatory, asset-based approaches that enable communities to lead change and build long-term resilience.Alongside my Interim CEO work, I provide consultancy and advisory support for heart-led leaders and organisations. I help them integrate hybrid strategic planning with operational delivery, evaluate social impact, strengthen governance, and streamline multi-functional operations. My focus is on helping organisations unlock potential, navigate challenges, and deliver sustainable, meaningful outcomes.I am passionate about driving innovation to meet evolving community needs, empowering individuals and teams to reach their potential, and advocating for equity, inclusion, and social justice. I have championed access for marginalised communities - including women in business, young people with SEND, carers, refugees, and those experiencing social and economic disadvantage - and am committed to embedding inclusion, fairness, and environmental responsibility in all aspects of organisational leadership.Rooted in lived experience and deep local knowledge, I bring authenticity, insight, and vision into every project I lead or support. I am actively looking for future opportunities to apply my skills and experience to affect systemic change on a national scale, advancing grassroots creativity, community action, resilience, and wellbeing.
