About Jovana Calvillo

I am a graduate of Williams College and Boston College School of Social Work. I currently work at Atrius Health as a Behavioral Fellow on trauma and addiction tracks. I have experience working with houseless people at Fenway Health\'s Youth on Fire program, a drop in homeless center organization. I previously interned and worked as an outpatient therapist at Cambridge Health Alliance.I previously worked as a Youth Initiative consultant at National Minority AIDS Council (NMAC) where I facilitated informative HIV presentations and provide advice to YI scholars around creating effective HIV community events. As a post-baccalaureate fellow and community residence counselor at McLean Hospital, I learned the basics of milieu treatment, deescalation methods, DBT, ACT and exposure response therapy, held individual exposure sessions, and coached DBT skills. I have experience working with adolescents and young adults who have OCD, anxiety, depression, BPD, trauma, self injurious behavior, and suicidal ideation. I previously volunteered for a hotline that provides services to partner abuse survivors in the LGBTQ+ community. Through Advocates for Youth, I have facilitated trainings on how to create safe spaces for Queer youth of color and have lobbied for HIV decriminalization. Ultimately, I am a mental health clinician who has a strong commitment to serving marginalized communities, such as people living with HIV, LGBTQ+ people, people of color, people with disabilities, and immigrants. I hope to continue to be involved in community initiatives and programs that support and empower marginalized communities.
