About Jourdan Cole

I am a public relations professional with 10 years of experience in traditional and digital media. As the marketing and communications manager for Mt. Cuba Center, I have endless opportunities to combine my passion for storytelling with my love of plants. At my previous job at Garden Media Group, I proudly communicated the messages for some of the most-respected companies in the lawn and garden industry. I specialize in social media and I\'m passionate about discovering new strategies to reach target audiences. As the garden consumer is ever evolving, I keep a watch on trends. I am available to speak on topics relating to garden trends, marketing to millennials, the future of garden retail, cultivating parents and kids as new plant lovers and social media. I worked for hibu Community Magazines from 2012 to 2014 and am well-versed in community journalism. As a publication manager, I oversaw the short-term coverage for employees’ vacations, temporarily leaves of absence, terminations and exits. Working on tight deadlines for these magazines meant that I need to integrate myself within a community to quickly discover local issues and accomplishments to highlight. I enjoy being a mentor and find those roles the most rewarding. In my role as a publication manager, I advised the team of publication assistants, overseeing the quality of each individual’s work and challenging each assistant to develop their skills as writers and as editors. I have watched these publication assistants grow and each one has taught me something new as well.I strongly feel that volunteering my time is worthwhile and look for new opportunities when I can. I have seen the positive impacts an hour or two of service can have on an individual, a family, and a community. I know that others can find success in their missions with extra help. I am a master gardener through Penn State in Chester County and work with the publicity committee to highlights our members and host educational events.
