ABOUT JOANNA TRENDALL

Too much young talent is being wasted on dead-end jobs and zero hours contracts while other businesses are crying out for reliable talent. I passionately believe in young people and their value to a business. Innovation, creativity, curiosity and energy are abundant traits in young talent and are exactly what business needs. But it has to be the right young talent for a particular business and I\'ve seen all too often recruitment being swayed (subconsciously) by skills and experiences that are not a precursor to success in the role at that company. I also passionately believe in our education system and the power of training, and especially training beyond the classroom. Why? Skills gaps. Dwindling talent pools. Brexit. The 4th industrial revolution (watch https://bit.ly/1PnLrg1) This is why I devote my professional life to opening the eyes of business to what a young person can do for them while helping to upskill and prepare young people for education. I train young people directly. I recruit and assess young people for businesses. I train managers to recruit and onboard young people more effectively. And I support teachers and educators to engage business in the delivery of the curriculum so students leave Further Education better prepared for the workplace.
