ABOUT JOSIE MIKESH
I am a junior at Indiana University studying Clinical Psychology, passionate about pursuing graduate school and a career in marriage and family therapy. My interest in supporting families grew from personal experience caring for a parent with MS, where I saw firsthand how illness can affect family bonds. This continues to motivate my long-term goal of opening a private practice dedicated to helping individuals and families build healthier connections.I bring experience in direct support, research, and mentoring. I’ve volunteered at a nursing home assisting Alzheimer’s patients, worked as a Student Success Coach and now as a Peer Coach at the Career Center, guiding students through academic and career challenges. My independent research on Holocaust denial and antisemitism, strengthened my critical thinking, and my study abroad in Sweden deepened my understanding of diversity and cultural perspectives in psychology. These experiences have honed my empathy, adaptability, and communication skills, qualities I hope to carry into graduate school and my future career as a therapist.
