ABOUT JOSIE ABDULBAKI

Hi, I am a recent graduate of the clinical social work masters program at Michigan State University, I now obtain a limited license in the state of Michigan to practice social work and therapy. This past school year I interned at the MSU Couple and Family Therapy Clinic where I provided therapy for individuals, families and couples in need. My experiences with work and internships have allowed me to learn many different skills that has allowed me to see my strengths and abilities when learning new things. According to professional testing, my top strengths include harmonious thinking, warm hearted by nature, and empathetic. These strengths are used in my passion for human development and family studies that I will use in my future career as a Clinical Therapist. I have a strong desire to work with individuals and families to allow each person to express themselves in a positive way. When learning about new therapy methods I have found that in my practice I work well with CBT, EFT, and a strengths based approach with my clients. I have been able to teach and lead mindfulness exercises as well as proper grounding techniques and journaling. In my free time I enjoy taking on new hobbies in life, spending time with my family and friends, volunteering in the community, and traveling! Please feel free to contact me, Josie M.
