ABOUT JOSH ROGAN

Most recently, I spent nearly seven years at Fandom, where I led the development of new experimental products to improve engagement across their ecosystem of 300 million monthly users. Working as a Staff Engineer, I eventually moved into a leadership role as an Engineering Manager. There, I worked with many technologies on the frontend like React and NextJS, across many backends (Java, MySQL, MongoDB, & Python) and Ops technologies (k8s, VCL, & Jenkins)During my time at Fandom, I successfully led multiple teams of engineers in the development of new features and products. In 2022, my three teams (consisting of 9 engineers) focused on improving platform findability, user engagement, and rehauling our video platform, which brings in millions of dollars a year. I pioneered a suite of tools, the \'Fandom App Toolkit\', that unified how we developed, built, deployed, and monitored our new applications, resulting in improved development speed, application performance, and a better end-user experience. Previously, I worked at Fireman Creative as a lead developer in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I created innovative web solutions and marketing strategies for our client\'s challenging problems and unique ideas. The clients include architects, financial consultants, startups, community groups, home builders, healthcare innovators, public speakers, antique collectors, authors, and many more. My current focus is building effective user experiences through web applications and services. Projects that involve educational tools, data visualizations, data accessibility, and connecting people to communities give me the most satisfaction. Knowing I can make someone\'s life easier, more productive, and more enjoyable drive me to keep developing more and more.
