ABOUT JOSHUA SHIRLEY

I’m a business student who thinks a balance sheet should feel a little more like a sketchbook than a spreadsheet. I’m studying Management Information Systems and French at UGA, but my first “career” was as an independent artist, spending 200+ hours building a portfolio, selling pieces, and learning how design, pricing, and audience psychology all collide in the real world. That creative lens is still how I approach business: every problem has a composition, every dataset has a story, and the goal is to make the final picture clear, compelling, and human.On the more analytical side, I’ve explored business from a few angles in my past including airline analytics at Southwest Airlines, public health research with the National Institute of Health, and even education with The Horizons Program. Whether I’m organizing thousands of documents, analyzing data on communities, or helping students one-on-one, I’m usually asking the same questions: What’s the real problem here? Who’s the “audience”? And how can we design a solution that actually works for people, not just on paper?Long term, I’m excited about roles where I can mix data, technology, and creativity, translating information into visuals, strategies, and experiences that make sense to both executives and everyday users.
