ABOUT JOSHUA GOLDBERG

I focus on patent office proceedings, client counseling, and litigation, handling intellectual property disputes in U.S. district courts and representing petitioners and patent owners in adversarial proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), and in appeals to the Federal Circuit. Having served as lead or backup counsel in more than 350 inter partes review (IPR), covered business method (CBM) post-grant review (PGR), and PGR proceedings, I coauthor the The Practitioner\'s Guide to Trials Before the PTAB, published by the ABA. I regularly manage the preparation of written submissions, take and defend technical expert depositions, and argue discovery and substantive issues, including at oral hearings, in PTAB proceedings. In my counseling practice, I help clients navigate competitors\' intellectual property, providing strategic advice through opinions of counsel on patent infringement, patent validity, and other intellectual property issues. I also work with clients to secure their intellectual property with global patent portfolios. I have experience with a variety of mechanical and electrical technologies, including vehicular, industrial manufacturing, mining, computer, Internet, semiconductor, network security, network topology, communications, display, imaging, consumer electronics, and robotics technologies. I have written both application and operating system software, and am familiar with several programming languages, including C, C++, FORTRAN, Intel Assembly, Java, Perl, SQL, and VBA. I have also lectured on electroactive polymers, superchargers, and turbochargers.
