About Joshua Widener
As I progressed through my early career as an accountant time and time again I spent a good portion of my day with data entry and other repetitive tasks. After several years and countless hours of repeating the same task over and over again I began researching ways to automate my tasks so I could focus on financial analytics. I came across Excel Macros, automated my first simple task, and fell in love with process improvement. I progressed through my financial career fairly quickly as I began automating anything I could get my hands on, which finally led to a position, Process Improvement Manager, being created specifically to allow me to dive into each financial department at my company and make real, visible, effective change. After some time working with each department I happened upon Robotic Process Automation, and fell in love again. This led me to my current role as an Intelligent Automation Analyst at Marcum Technology where I get to not only work with Robotic Process Automation and other automation tools, but I still get to use my accounting background to regularly consult with clients and examine financial processes and procedures to provide technology solutions to help drive efficiency and process improvement.
