In its report on ‘Investors, ESG and Human Rights’, the United Nations Working Group on Business and Human Rights aims to provide practical guidance to States, businesses, especially financial institutions of all types, civil society and other stakeholders on how to align better Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) approaches by investors with the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs) in the context of financial products and services.My specific task is to review and analyse the existing judicial and other dispute mechanisms in which investors have been held accountable for adverse human rights (including environmental and climate change) impacts of their investments, and the consequences to victims of these decisions. In addition, to review and analyse current investor (including investor associations) human rights policies and approaches to determine in what ways, if any, they provide for remedies by the investors to victims of adverse human rights impacts of their investments.
