WORK HISTORY
Gallery Owner @A Gallery For Fine Photography
Joshua Mann Pailet opened A Gallery for Fine Photography in 1973 as one of the world’s first art galleries devoted solely to fine art photography. Located in the New Orleans French Quarter, A Gallery for Fine Photography possesses a natural library setting with slate floors, walls made of 19th century Mississippi River bargeboards, and old Louisiana Cypress doors. A Gallery displays the History of Photography, including 19th, 20th and 21st century gems and uses secret doors to hide low-light hidden treasures such as one of the first paper photographs ever made. In 1975, only two years after its opening, A Gallery for Fine Photography premiered a solo exhibition of works by one of the great masters of photography, Ansel Adams. A Gallery has since attracted elite collectors and casual visitors alike. Joshua Mann Pailet was also an early exhibitor at Basel Art Fair (Switzerland), Paris Photo, Modernism, Works on Paper, and is a founding member of AIPAD, the Association of International Photography Art Dealers. Pailet’s extensive collection at A Gallery for Fine Photography includes works by Ansel Adams, Yousuf Karsh, Andre Kertész, Brassai, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Diane Arbus, Brett Weston, Edward Sheriff Curtis, Walker Evans, Berenice Abbott, Aaron Siskind, Max Yavno, Sebastião Salgado, Herman Leonard, Elliott Erwitt, Jerry Uelsmann, Sandy Skoglund, Linda McCartney, Louviere + Vanessa, Josephine Sacabo, Maggie Taylor, and more.
