Biotechnology has brought us into a new era, ripe with unprecedented potential for major advancements in genetic engineering, population genomics, and the treatment of disease.My primary goal is to assist scientists in their development of this innovative technology through patent law. I have worked for several years as a patent attorney, focusing on patent prosecution, technology licensing, and patent litigation matters for large pharmaceutical companies and start-ups alike. This has provided me with unique insight into all stages of pharmaceutical life-cycle management.Prior to my career in law, I was fortunate to have worked on an array of projects spanning the disciplines of medicinal chemistry, pharmacology, protein engineering and bioconjugation. I obtained my Ph.D. from Stony Brook University in Organic Chemistry with a focus on the synthesis and preclinical evaluation of tumor-targeted chemotherapeutics. Following my graduate studies, I enjoyed a Post-Doctoral Fellowship at the California Institute for Biomedical Research (Calibr) where I worked on the development of chemical and biochemical therapeutics for pulmonary fibrosis and oncology. At Calibr I had the privilege of working side-by-side with scientists who were developing antibody-drug conjugates, engineered peptide hormones, bispecific antibodies, CAR-T cells and novel high-throughput screens. It was this experience that opened my eyes to the vast potential awaiting on the scientific horizon.
