As a senior scientist, I work at the intersection of the public and private sectors to strengthen the Canadian agriculture industry through scientific and evidence-based initiatives.I provide technical advisory and consulting services in the agriculture sector, focusing on animal health and biosecurity for Canadian livestock producers. My responsibilities include developing the Vaccination Implementation Support System (VISS), which will contain essential protocols and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for implementing CFIA’s vaccination policies relating to Foot and Mouth Disease. This system is designed to be a foundation for future vaccination efforts against various diseases.Additionally, I am involved in creating the Foot-and-Mouth Disease Incident Emergency Response Plan (IERP), which builds on prior work from the African Swine Fever IERP. This plan aims to clarify and define the roles of Federal, Provincial, and Territorial Governments and Industry Partners (FPTI) during a foreign animal disease outbreak.I work colloboratively with Industry and Provincial governments to develop and refine Integrated Emergency Response Plans for African Swine Fever focusing on the complexities with effectively managing public and private resources in the face of an outbreak.I am an active member of the Foot and Mouth Disease Working Group, collaborating with organizations such as the Canadian Cattle Association, Dairy Farmers of Canada, Canadian Pork Council, CFIA, and AAFC.I have also been involved with national Cost of Production studies in the Canadian table egg, turkey and pullet industry.
