ABOUT JOSHUA APILIGA

I’m an Accounting and Financial Management student at Loughborough University, with a deep interest in financial markets, investment, and business strategy. I was proud to be recognised with the Certificate of Academic Excellence in 2025, awarded for outstanding work in a project with Loughborough Business School, a reflection of the focus and work ethic I bring to everything I do. Before university, I competed internationally in badminton, earning senior and junior level caps for Scotland, winning multiple European medals, and having the honour to compete on the biggest stage against some of the best athletes in the world. My time as a professional athlete taught me discipline, resilience, and the importance of preparation, qualities I now apply to my academic and professional journey. My current internship at Whyte & Mackay is providing valuable exposure to real-world business operations and decision-making. It’s a great opportunity for me to apply my academic knowledge while gaining commercial awareness, and it’s reinforcing my interest in pursuing a long-term career in finance. I’m always open to new challenges, connections, and learning opportunities.
