About Josh Giron
An experienced (Systems, DevOps, and Software) engineer with experience across a broad spectrum of technologies, industries, and businesses. This experience ranges from the complexities of developing custom Linux modules for low-latency FPGA video streaming devices all the way to launching, and operationalizing, complex multi-tenant Distributed Services at Amazon Web Services. As well as the DevOps culture creation at various SMB and large-scale companies. In between that spectrum, what I have enjoyed the most is the leadership and influencing involved to create actual change across organizations and teams. Making an impact for the internal developer\'s experience is what I have found to gravitate the most toward. Architect for new company-wide Operational Readiness Assessment required of all services transitioning between Beta/IA/GA- Defined roadmap for delivering SaaS first transformation of VMware including identifying stakeholders across the company\'s business units- Demonstrated the power of auto-generating reproducible software to my org and the greater company; examples include a vmw auto-generated CLI similar to aws\' cli and documented the process for generating terraform providers as well- Led proof of concept for SourceGraph to improve DX, code search experience, and code quality. I gathered support from Sr. directors, VPs, and several principal engineers across the company- Migrated the entire codebase of my direct team (an acquisition) from BitBucket cloud to the on-premises GitLab SCM- Defined application CSP authentication properties file for VMware wide products- Defined product\'s software development best practices and launch checklist for development teams to release operationalized software- Provided common terraform infrastructure components shared across hundreds of infrastructure-as-code (IaC) repositories- Developed new CICD workflows, integrations with external services, and mechanisms to enforce best practices in order to provide fully vetted and tested software to our customers- One of three engineers which lead overall effort to deliver SOC2 certification for security-focused product team.
