As an Engineering Manager at Fullscript, I oversee a dynamic and versatile team of engineers, typically managing 4 engineers as direct reports—comprising two front-end developers and two back-end developers. This includes conducting yearly 360 reviews, quarterly check-ins, and handling all aspects of developer compensation, including pay raises and promotions. My team primarily focuses on enhancing the patient experience on our platform. Historically, we’ve worked on our web platform utilizing Ruby on Rails and ReactJS. Recently, our focus has shifted towards our iOS app, continuing with Rails for the backend and adopting React Native for app development.In addition to managing my team, I oversee every project from inception to completion. This includes diving into proof of concepts, creating design documents, writing up release plans, and ensuring continued maintenance in the long term. I set the technical direction for the team, guiding them through each phase of development to ensure successful project delivery.While my role requires a balance between management and technical involvement, I focus on building a team of leaders. I empower my developers to take ownership of their projects, fostering an environment where they can lead and innovate. I stay engaged with the technical aspects through initiatives and changes aimed at improving developer productivity, processes, and automation. Two of my recent significant achievements include migrating our entire React Native app to Expo, enhancing developer productivity, and developing a framework for assessing and improving team domain health.
