ABOUT JOSH LEHRER

I’m a biotech CEO and physician-scientist with a passion for building great teams to deliver transformative therapies. Over the past 15+ years, I’ve led companies from formation through IPO, clinical proof of concept, and successful M&A, with experience across rare disease, cardiovascular/metabolic, endocrine and gene editing programs.Currently, I serve as CEO of Marea Therapeutics, where we’re advancing a pipeline of cardio-endocrine therapies. Previously, I was founding CEO of Graphite Bio, which I built from an academic idea into a public company. Before that, I was CMO at Global Blood Therapeutics, Oxbryta from development through launch and contributed to GBT’s acquisition by Pfizer. My background spans clinical medicine, R&D, regulatory engagement, and corporate strategy. I’ve raised over $1.7B in capital, built high-performing leadership teams, and presented at global investor, medical, and regulatory forums.Originally trained in cardiology and internal medicine at UCSF and Stanford, I’ve also done research at Harvard, Cambridge, UCSF, and Genentech, with publications in The Lancet, NEJM, and Science.I love leading mission-driven teams to innovate at the intersection of science, medicine, and corporate strategy.
