About Josh Adams
As Associate Vice President and General Manager of Houston Public Media, Josh Adams leads the strategic direction and daily operations of the organization’s broadcast and digital platforms—including TV 8 (PBS), KUHF News 88.7 (NPR), and all associated digital subchannels. Under his leadership, Houston Public Media has expanded its regional broadcast reach, advanced digital growth, modernized production facilities, and reinforced its role as a leader in public safety communications. Since joining Houston Public Media in 2012, Adams has served in several senior roles, including Station Manager, Executive Director of Operations, and Executive Producer. He has played a key role in building strategic partnerships with the University of Houston and driving major technology and infrastructure initiatives. Adams led the consolidation of KUHT and KUHF transmission facilities into a unified, efficient system that supports broader distribution and long-term service reliability. In the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, he was instrumental in maintaining on-air continuity for KHOU 11 by temporarily integrating the station\'s operations into Houston Public Media’s facilities for 18 months. An Emmy Award-winning producer, Adams previously held leadership roles at KHOU 11 and WNCN. A native of North Carolina, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from North Carolina State University. He and his wife, Libby—a surgeon at MD Anderson Cancer Center—live in Houston and have two children, Celia and Drew.
