The California Coastal Commission has 12 voting members and 3 non-voting members. Six of the voting members are \"public members,\" and six are local elected officials who come from specific coastal districts. All voting members are appointed either by the Governor, Senate Rules Committee, or the Speaker of the Assembly; each appoints four commissioners, two public members and two elected officials. Each Commissioner may appoint an alternate to serve in his or her absence. The Secretaries of the Natural Resources Agency and the State Transportation Agency and the Chair of the State Lands Commission serve as non-voting members and may appoint a designee to serve in their place.Any written materials, including email, that are sent to commissioners regarding matters pending before the Commission must also be sent to Commission staff at the same time. The communication to the commissioner should clearly indicate that a copy is being sent to staff. All such communications are public records and will be made available for inspection at the appropriate Commission district office. The Coastal Act does not authorize Ex Parte communications that relate to alleged violations of the Coastal Act and such communications are not permissible.

ABOUT JOSE PRECIADO
In his twenty-eighth year at SDSU, Jose serves as direct of Undergraduate Studies. This leadership role is primarily responsible for course-based campus initiatives in support of undergraduate student success and academic achievement. The Director of Undergraduate Studies supervises all non-Honors College undergraduate degree and curriculum programs within Faculty Advancement and Student Success, including General Studies and First-Year Seminar programs, Supplemental Instruction, Faculty- Student Mentoring Program, Undeclared, and Interdisciplinary Studies in Three Majors. The incumbent is responsible for maintaining degree program and curricular integrity, supervising program directors, advisors, and support staff, and producing a schedule of courses dedicated to undergraduate student success and serving about undergraduates annually. In making curricular and programmatic decisions, the Director convenes and consults with the tenured faculty of the Undergraduate Studies Advisory Committee.Political/ElectoralJose was elected to the Chula Vista City Council-District 2 in December 8, 2022. He started his 4-year term on December 13, 2022.
