ABOUT JOSE RODRIGO
Ph.D. in biotechnology with a background in environmental and bioelectrochemical studies, having professional experiences in international institutions, with good multilingual proficiency, multicultural sensitivity, and a strength for being efficient to complete multi-task requirements. I graduated from Universidad Autónoma de Madrid with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. Subsequently I studied a postgraduate master\'s degree of integrated water management and completing my Ph.D. in microbial biotechnology at Universidad de Alcalá (Spain). During 6 years, under the supervision of Dr. Abraham Esteve-Núnez, I collaborated in the development of a technology for bioremediation of contaminated soils, based on bioelectrochemical methodologies. In parallel I collaborated in several research projects related to the study of wastewater treatment with bioelectrochemical systems (BES), using Geobacter as an electrogenic model organism. Specifically I have participated in the design, development and patent of a Microbial Fluidised Electrochemical Bed Reactor (M-FEBR). In these years of professional research experience, I have participated in European and National R&D projects, dissemination actions and international work experiences. In 2017 I joined as a postdoc the team of Dr. Falk Harnisch in the Microbial Bioelectrocatalysis and Bioelectrotechnology group in The Helmholtz-Centre for Environmental Research GmbH – UFZ located in Leipzig, Germany. We have focused in the design and development of techniques to analyze and reveal the electrochemical behavior of bed electrodes through the analysis of its single conductive granules.
