About Josephine Xu

I am an economist focusing on empirical industrial organisation and applied econometrics. I have consulted on various antitrust matters for companies in healthcare, telecommunications, media, transportation, manufacture as well as government agencies. I believe that answering economic questions in the real world require empirical models that are well founded in economic theory. I aspire to communicate complex data and model to everyone who is willing to understand them. I am always learning about the latest technology and advances in the field of economics. I believe that understanding how the world is shaped by evolving technologies is paramount to the application of economic analyses to practical problems. I am skilled and effective in using Stata, R, Matlab, Python and SQL to analyse data and implement economic models. I currently work at Compass Lexecon as a Vice President where I implement complex economic models to antitrust issues and assist in antitrust litigation. I supervise case teams, design data analyses projects and liaise with attorneys, clients and other economic consulting firms. I hold a Ph.D. In economics (industrial organisation and microeconomic theory) from University of Wisconsin - Madison, and a B.A. With Honors in economics from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver.
