About Joseph Volk
As a digital marketing consultant and strategist, I have helped clients at every size and stage understand and engage their target customers. Throughout my career, my favorite activities (and biggest strengths) have been strategy development, public speaking and audience research. I enjoy the process of getting to know my target audience deeply, then creatively synthesizing the available data and sources of truth into a compelling final product. My main areas of expertise are in inbound marketing and content strategy. In my most recent role as the Associate Director of our Digital Strategy team at Wheelhouse DMG, I led strategic engagements focused on acquisition, content design, SEO, and other digital marketing disciplines. I also worked on new business development and service and tool design. I spent the first half of my career in academia and education, teaching and designing curriculum for a variety of college-level courses. This experience has given me a strong foundation of soft skills and executive presence, as well as the ability to add extra value to any context requiring people management, training and knowledge transfer, and/or research and documentation.Outside of work, I spend time much of my free time reading, writing, cooking and going on long walks. I am also very interested in different methods of discourse analysis, market research, trend analysis and similar disciplines and am always looking for new ways to theorize the zeitgeist.
