About Joseph Sharaya

I am a passionate and experienced Occupational Therapist with a Doctorate in Occupational Therapy (OTD) from Indiana Wesleyan University and certification as a Hand Therapist (CHT). I specialize in treating upper extremity orthopedic and neurological cases, as well as offering specialized services in splinting, dry needling, manual therapy, and adaptive techniques for activities of daily living.Currently, I serve as an Occupational Therapist at ATI Physical Therapy, where I provide Occupational Therapy at two clinics and have helped develop the Dry Needling Initiative for Occupational Therapists on a national level. In addition, I lead the rehabilitation department at Trinity Free Clinic, a volunteer-based organization providing medical services to uninsured and underinsured individuals.I have a diverse background in patient care, ranging from inpatient spinal cord injury and amputee rehabilitation at Community Rehabilitation Hospital South and North to outpatient services and home health. I also have experience in health coaching and tobacco cessation with WebMD Health Services. I actively engage in professional development, having completed a year-long Virtual Hand to Shoulder Fellowship and participating in the Hand Therapy Academy\'s CHT Prep Program.Beyond clinical practice, I am involved in academia as an adjunct faculty member at Indiana Wesleyan University, where I teach Therapeutic Modalities.My leadership experience spans a variety of roles, including President and philanthropy chair for Sigma Pi Fraternity Eta Chapter and president of the IWU Student Occupational Therapy Association, where I facilitated student engagement and professional development opportunities. My goal is to continue advancing my expertise in upper extremity rehabilitation, contribute to the growth of the occupational therapy profession, and improve patient outcomes through innovative interventions and collaborative care.
