About Joseph Russo
Employed full time at the Long Island Rail Road I work as a Supervisor-Train Movement for the Special Projects Department. I have previous experience working as an assistant chief train dispatcher in the railroad’s movement bureau and as an Operations Manager in New York’s Penn Station. I have assisted in spearheading an Emergency Preparedness training program currently being used by the LIRR to train thousands of emergency responders. I am also employed by the Town of Islip, NY as a Sergeant in the Harbor Patrol unit. I have previous experience working for the Village of Saltaire (Fire Island, NY) as an Emergency Manager/Fire Marshal and for the Suffolk County Fire Academy as a Senior Deputy Chief Instructor. I have served as a Volunteer Firefighter and Officer for my local FD for over 20 years as well as the Assistant Director for the Training Committee and also a member of the Town of Babylon Homeland Security/Hazmat team.
