ABOUT JOSEPH MCELHANY

I’m Joseph, a Civil Engineer and President of KANE GeoTech, Inc, with over 17 years of experience delivering civil, geological, and geotechnical consulting services for projects across diverse terrain and demanding environmental conditions.I am a licensed California Professional Engineer (PE) with a career focused on solving complex geohazard challenges through practical, constructible engineering solutions that protect infrastructure and communities.My expertise spans the full life cycle of geotechnical and geologic hazard mitigation from field investigation and risk evaluation to design development and construction support. I’ve led work involving:• Rockfall and debris flow mitigation• Landslide stabilization and slope remediation• Avalanche prevention and mountain hazards• Slope stability design and earth retention systems• Retaining wall systems• Deep foundations• Reinforced concrete structuresAs President, I prioritize technical excellence, accountability, and clear decision-making ensuring our work is defensible, efficient, and built to perform in real-world conditions. I’m equally comfortable in the field and in the design process, and I enjoy mentoring engineers, strengthening teams, and building a firm culture rooted in integrity and high standards.In addition to California, I hold PE licensure in Colorado, Nevada, Oregon, Oklahoma, North Dakota, North Carolina, and Hawaii.
