About Joseph Maldonado
My career trajectory started as a Urologist in Upstate New York engaged in medical entrepreneurial projects which included a urology practice with multiple site, successful Urgent Care startup, Ambulatory Surgery Center, IPA and Physician Organization Startup and leadership, and healthcare medical complex real estate venture. My focus has been on creating physician buy-in for transformation in response to healthcare market forces. My success in these areas has been predicated on evidenced-based business and medical knowledge, market intelligence, and a knack for developing and/or promoting solutions for wicked and complex problems. I will only engage in ventures which develop products and services which have a proven need in the healthcare market. My leadership style has led to Senior leadership engagement in numerous large organizations. These includes professional medical organizations, medical school senior team, publicly traded company board and the largest healthcare megaproject in the world. Leadership is about change management in a way which responds to market forces through organizational collaboration within and without. It harnesses the best evidence, technology and human resources to design, implement and monitor new projects. I have just completed my work in DSRIP at the Central New York Care Collaborative with my last project being the development and implementation of a COVID19 Risk Mitigation Program for vulnerable lives at risk for a COVID19 complication. I have 17 years of clinical practice along with world class business education and leadership in entrepreneurial, complex and large organizations (Touro – the largest university in the world and MLMIC – a Berkshire Hathaway company) have given me the appetite for rolling up my sleeves and engaging in the innovative disruptions which successfully move healthcare through transformation in social determinants of health, population health, value based payment methodologies and healthcare performance analytics.I am a Life Member of Kellogg College at the University of Oxford.
