ABOUT JOSEPH BROOKS

Healthcare operations and improvement leader with over 20 years of experience across clinical care, quality, patient safety, and systems improvement. My career has spanned multiple corners of the healthcare ecosystem, and each chapter has reinforced the same truth: the most powerful driver of outcomes is not process alone, but the experience of patients, families, and the teams who care for them.My work managing patient-reported outcomes (PROs) across Michigan deepened this conviction. Sustainable improvement does not come from chasing scores or compliance metrics. It comes from designing systems that respect lived experience and support people at every level of care. When teams feel aligned and patients feel seen, performance follows.I specialize in supporting multidisciplinary teams as they navigate complexity and change. That means breaking down silos, aligning stakeholders around shared purpose, and creating environments where data informs decisions, but humanity guides them. I bring together operational rigor, systems thinking, and human-centered design to help translate insight into action and intention into execution.Patient experience is not a soft concept. It is a strategic lever that shapes safety, trust, workforce engagement, and clinical outcomes. My approach to improvement reflects that belief, with a focus on clarity, collaboration, and sustainable change, particularly in high-pressure environments where improvement is both essential and challenging. As I continue this work in a systems improvement coaching role, I remain grounded in the same mission that has guided my career. There is still untapped potential in how we design care, support teams, and listen to patients. My goal is to help close that gap by contributing to systems where collaboration is intentional, experience is embedded, and better outcomes emerge naturally.Patient experience is not a department. It is the sum of how people are treated, how decisions are made, and how care is delivered. That is the impact I am committed to making.
