ABOUT JOSEPH LEDUC

Joseph LeDuc has been with the dually-accredited and progressive Scottsdale Police Department for over 33 years, where he currently serves as the Chief of Police. His educational credentials include a bachelor’s degree in Business Management, and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership. Mr. LeDuc graduated from the prestigious FBI National Academy in 2018. Mr. LeDuc has served in numerous disciplines to include the Property Crimes Section, Violent Crimes Unit, the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Task Force, and Homicide. Mr. LeDuc was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 2005 and assigned to supervise the Special Victims Unit. In 2011, and later he worked in the Internal Affairs Unit Mr. LeDuc was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in 2013 and soon after was assigned to command the Special Investigations Section. This section is comprised of the Drug Enforcement Unit, the Federal DEA Task Force, the Joint Terrorism Task force, and the Intelligence Unit. In 2016, Mr. LeDuc was promoted to the rank of Commander where he was responsible for the day-to-day operations of a busy police district and municipal jail, supervising and leading over 100 civilian and sworn police employees.In 2021 he was selected to become an Assistant Chief overseeing the Professional Standards and Investigative Services Bureau. This bureau represents all the investigative work groups, a fully accredited crime laboratory, the Property/Evidence Section, Community Engagement, Internal Affairs, and Training. In 2025, Mr. LeDuc was promoted to the Chief of Police where he leads approximately 700 dedicated employees. Mr. LeDuc has been involved in promoting the health and welfare of families by collaborating with organizations that embrace the mission of educating parents and kids about healthy lifestyle choices. Mr. LeDuc served a term chairing the Arizona State Governor\'s Parent’s Commission on Drug Education and Prevention and served on a goal counsel to address the opioid epidemic. Mr. LeDuc is an Adjunct Professor for Northern Arizona University where he designs and teaches multiple different courses. He also instructed for FBI LEEDA and traveled throughout the United States teaching leadership courses to police executives. Mr. LeDuc’s awards include multiple Police Superior Performance Awards, Meritorious Service Award, Community Policing Award, The City of Scottsdale Manager’s Award of Excellence for Caring and Compassion, and the City Manger\'s Award of Excellent for the Development and Facilitation of a Servant Leadership Course.
