About Joseph Hajj
Joseph began his career in the oil and gas industry as an oil trader in 2005 before joining Shell in 2007 as a petroleum engineer. Since then, he has taken on key technical and leadership roles across deepwater, onshore/offshore conventional oil and gas, and Integrated Gas, driving major projects and operational excellence.Currently, Joseph serves as the General Manager for Shell’s new deepwater flagship projects globally and near-field exploration in the Gulf of the Americas (GoA). His leadership experience includes overseeing major developments such as Gato do Mato in Brazil and Vito Waterflood in the GoA as Front-End Development Manager. He has also been instrumental in asset turnaround efforts as the Toucan Asset Manager in Gabon and in shaping Shell’s global portfolio of high-value projects as a Portfolio Manager in the Netherlands.With a strong blend of technical expertise and commercial acumen, Joseph has a proven track record of driving transformation, optimizing performance, and delivering results. A firm believer in teamwork, he applies his passion for team sports to the workplace, fostering collaboration, engagement, and high-performing teams.Joseph holds a bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Sciences and Geology from the American University of Beirut and an MBA from HEC Paris, NYU Stern, and the London School of Economics. Originally from Lebanon, he now resides in Houston.
