ABOUT JOSEPH HAGEMAN
I have had clinical experience as a hospitalist, neonatologist, pediatric intensivist, and apnea physician. After retiring from clinical practice in 2007, I have been active teaching on the pediatric floor and at Comer Children’s Hospital. As the Director of Pediatric Resident Research, I helped the pediatric residents with their research projects, which resulted in 30 national presentations, and we have published clinical QI projects (3 papers in Clinical Pediatrics, Pediatric Emergency Care, J Child Neurology), and about 100 other papers, primarily clinical case based reviews and small case series and reviews. Many of them are in Pediatric Annals (I just became the editor in chief), NeoReviews (I am on the editorial board), Clinical Pediatrics, and Pediatric Emergency Care.We have a paper in preparation for the Journal of Obstetric, Gynecologic & Neonatal Nursing (JOGNN) and an abstract in preparation about the SUPCeducational module developed by Nancy Rodriguez PhD NNP for the 2018 Pediatric Academic SocietyMeeting.Since I have been the QI person, the neonatal nurse practitioners have presented their QI projects at ourquality symposium at U of Chicago as well as at ICAAP poster session, Illinois Perinatal Quality Collaborative, and the Vermont Oxford Network Meeting. Megan Finn and Amy Meyer just published a paper about swaddled bathing for NeoReviews. I am also working with Springer publishers on a series of blogs about aspects of responsibilities and projects for “Daily Nurse,” a nursing blog. I have also co edited ‘Essential Guide to Clinical Neonatology’ which Nova has just publishedScientific Publishers in e book and print versions, January, 2017 with Jeanette Hoenig and Alison Chu.This is a 74 chapter and 47 author handbook for clinicians in the NICU.I have a total of 402 publications (48 peer-reviewed, 354 non-peer-reviewed, including book chapters, reviews). These are listed in my CV.We are now working on ‘’Pediatric Critical Care for Non-Intensivists’ which I am co-editing with Jason Kane,MD, and Stuart Berger, MD.I am the Pediatric Editor for Doody Enterprises, an expert book review service as well. My job is to recruitreviewers for books sent to the service from publishers, e.g, American Academy of Pediatrics, Elsevier,Springer. I have written 93 reviews in the last 10 months for the service which are published on the Doody website.
