About Joseph Gross

Senior Network Engineer (Government Civilian, GS-12, TS/SCI) at MacDill AFB FL. I have an extensive background in network engineering and cyber security due to my breadth of experience during my time in the Air Force.My network engineering experience includes 7 years of working with multiple vendors, including Avaya and Cisco, but mostly with Juniper and Brocade devices. I have experience with Avaya CM and Cisco ISE Administration, as well as configuration, management, implementation, and troubleshooting of Juniper EX, SRX, and QFX-series switches; Cisco Catalyst and Nexus; and Brocade ICX and FCX-Series switches. I earned my Security+ Certification as a result of my training to enter this field.My cybersecurity experience includes 5 years of developing and implementing DoD STIGs on network devices prior to fully making the switch to my current position. I have configured SIEM servers dedicated to detecting network and system anomalies, and have experience with many commercial tools of the trade including the ELX stack, Suricata, Wireshark, Zeek/Bro, and Arkime/Moloch. I have attained my GCFE, GCIA, and GPEN as a result of my military experience in the information security field. None of these have been mandatory certifications aside from Security+, and I have a list of other certifications that I plan to achieve in the near future.I am currently on terminal leave from my active duty service commitment, and am more than willing to hear what offers may be available for me.
