About Joseph Frilot

I graduated from the University of Houston-Main Campus with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science (Summa Cum Laude with University Honors) and obtained a Masters of Education from the University of Texas-Austin in the UTeach Urban Teachers Program (Summa Cum Laude). I have a deep interest in Education and Education Reform. I am currently an IDEA Teacher Policy Leader, the 6th & 7th grade Pre-AP (Hybrid) Humanities Teacher & Course Leader and 6th Grade Level Chair for IDEA Montopolis College Prep in Austin, Texas. I am also the Academic Success Coach for Upward Bound at Austin Community College and previously the Director for the Digital Media Academy’s Summer Tech Camp in Austin, Texas.

   The IDEA Teacher Policy Leadership Program provides select Level 4 and 5 teachers with the tools to learn about K-12 education policy, share their stories with elected leaders, and shape state policy and budgeting. The TPL program includes policy and advocacy training, 1:1 and group coaching, and opportunities to meet with lawmakers.
