Joseph completed his residency training in Internal Medicine at Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center in June 2016, and began practicing as a Hospitalist Physician at Kaiser Baldwin Park in September 2016.Joseph graduated from UCLA in 2007 with a B.A. in Latin, and a minor in Neuroscience. For his scholastic achievements he was 1 of 6 students nominated to receive the Helen Caldwell Award, given annually to an outstanding senior with a major in the Classics Department. In college, Joseph gained valuable clinical experience, often working the night shift as an EMT and served as a volunteer CPR instructor through the American Heart Association leading several certification classes of up to 100 UCLA students at a given time.After college, Joseph gained teaching experience as an EMT Clinical Instructor through UCLA’s Center for Pre-hospital Care. He led sessions in EMT clinical skills instruction and taught BLS recertification classes for house staff at UCLA, and Kaiser Permanente in Los Angeles. At the same time, he supplemented his teaching duties while working as an Emergency Trauma Technician at UCLA’s emergency department.Joseph earned his M.D. at the Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) School of Medicine, which is historically known as the Medical College of Virginia. Notably, for the summer after his first year, he was 1 of 7 students selected to take part in Operation Helping Hands, an international humanitarian mission that recognizes the medical and surgical needs of the poor. He is described by his colleagues as an extremely mature, hardworking, enthusiastic individual, and a goal-directed and dependable young professional, who knows his responsibilities and goes above and beyond to meet them.
