I can tell you where I have been-my Horatio Alger journey, what I have accomplished, how I have bounced back from failures, and how much wealth I have accumulated. It will be generally tedious and self-serving. Let me spare you the agony of reading about the pomposity. For those of us who have succeeded—big or small—the road taken is approximately the same. Thinking about a venture->Rallying people to get involved->Groveling for other people’s money or seeding it with your own->Diving into the venture head first->Working 24x7 to build up the business->Selling, Selling and more Selling->Encountering challenges->Making mid-course adjustments->Nail-biting time for the orders to come through->Voila, I have finally arrived->Results: Gee, I didn’t think it could work, but it does—amazing and now I am rolling in dough! or, My bad, it was a lousy idea and now I am ruined->What did I learn-beaucoup->Let me start over—wiser, less self-delusional and more emboldened! I have been there, done that, and am still doing it for the fun of it!Now, let me tell you where I am going. I do want to do something that truly matters! Serving seniors with dementia is one. Mentoring young people to be future kings and queens is another. Seeing a couple of the current ventures through to fruition is yet another. And last but not least, Carpe Diem!
