ABOUT JOSE THOMAS

After working in the software industry for ~ 4 years, I found that my eager to learn, understand and apply new technologies was driving me to go back to school for advanced knowledge. Nothing was more exciting than getting back to school for learning some great technologies especially when I am exploring a new continent and culture.I did my Master degree in Electrical and Computer engineering from UBC. I am fully satisfied that my time at UBC was well spent with getting knowledge and practical experience on the Distributed system, IoT, and Machine learning through the academic projects and Internships.Internship at companies focusing data was a boost for me to understand the latest industry focus on data. Apart from gaining the skills in JavaScript and Python from the Internships, I was exposed to the dynamic and refreshing startup culture as well as corporate culture experience.Academic experience in Distributed systems, IoT, and machine learning was not just a warm up in java coding skills, but a clear understanding of some of the algorithms and concepts that powers the scalable systems running the world.I get excited by new technologies and love to learn them and master them mainly when they are related to distributed cloud-based systems, artificial intelligence, and security. I love to work with building scalable systems for organizations focusing on data or systems.
