ABOUT JOSE FRANCO ÁLVAREZ
With over eight years of experience in medical science, I am a passionate and driven PhD candidate at the University of Cambridge, where I conduct cutting-edge research on the genomic interplay between early stages of breast cancer and its progression to invasive disease. My goal is to identify key genomic triggers, such as driver genes, that contribute to the development and advancement of breast cancer, and potentially inform targeted treatments to prevent or delay its onset. In addition to my academic research, I have also gained valuable skills and insights from working as a consultant for two projects related to biotechnology and medical devices, where I applied my expertise in bioinformatics, market research, and mammalian cell culture to define market expansion strategies and investigate entry markets for innovative products. I have also demonstrated my leadership and teamwork abilities through my extracurricular roles as president of Darwin College Rowing Club, men\'s captain, and rowing coach, where I have organized and coordinated events, trained and mentored members, and fostered a culture of excellence and camaraderie.
