ABOUT JOSEFINA BRAÑA VARELA
I have 20 years of experience working in environmental policy issues, particularly focusing on forests, from different perspectives, such as academia, government institutions and non-governmental organizations (NGOs). In my current role, as VP and Deputy Lead, Forests, I contribute to setting the strategic direction and priorities for WWF\'s Forests team, and I lead a multidisciplinary team working to deliver hight-quality, high-integrity nature-based solutions around the world, to deliver benefits for people, nature and climate. In addition, I have led WWF\'s global forest and climate policy agenda and advocacy efforts since 2013. I hold a master’s degree in Public Policy with a special focus on Environmental Policy from the University of Maryland and studied International Relations in my hometown, Mexico City.
