About José Estrada

Hello!I am an engineer who specializes in the field of Building Science (AKA Building Physics) and building envelope. I am based in Seattle, WA, USA and have worked on projects of all scopes and sizes as a consulting engineer across various climate zones and regions of the United States, Canada, and China. Most recently, my experience has focused primarily on projects in the Western United States and Eastern China.Buildings envelope and sustainable design are my passion. Whether the project is a single family house or a multi-billion-dollar sky-scraper, I enjoy working with owner groups, architects, contractors, and material suppliers to produce building envelope related solutions that are practical, economical, and that limit risk to involved parties.My professional experience is varied in scope of service, type of building. For example, I’ve worked on Multi-family Apartments, Condominiums, Single family homes, High-rise commercial, historical, Federal, Military, Religious, Medical, and Educational buildings. Each building occupancy raised unique considerations for their varied façade systems.I’ve also been involved in the schematic design (high level) of building façade systems, the detailed design (low level including specifications and details) of façade systems, and the field verification of façade system construction. I am often also involved in post construction forensic assessments for existing buildings with building envelope related issues.When not on a project job, I enjoy attending building science related events, learning more about what others in the building community are up to, and writing papers and articles on new developments in the building science community.
