Hi I am Jose Luis I am a highly skilled Photo Editor/Photojournalist with extensive experience, working as a wire service photographer in a wide variety of events and subjects matter in the US, as well as internationally. I am an efficient and knowledgeable photographer and editor with a strong work ethic. Knowing what is important, what is newsworthy and making quick decisions under pressure are among my strengths. I was part of the AP photo team who covered the Jan. 6 Insurrection in the U.S. Capitol, I took the now famous photograph of the rioters climbing the west wall of the U.S. Capitol. I was a staff photographer for the AP and for a period of time leading the photo department in the Mexico City bureau. I know the responsibility for the day-to-day planning and coordinating assignments with a pool of photographers, video and text text. I also split my duties as a photographer, covering daily events politics, entertainment, sports and breaking news stories, I worked on assignments in the Caribbean, Central and South America. Cuba was a big part of my coverage. I am also very strong working on features stories and photo packages – both in collaboration with writers and on my own, I am always looking for stories to tell. I have experience working and planning for coverage as a member of a team in large events with a pool of journalists, text, video, photo, as official Papal visits, political summits and American Cup soccer tournaments in Latin America, teamwork and communication are part of my strengths. I work with Photoshop, Photo Mechanic, Lightroom and other editing software. I am enthusiastic and eager to cover assignments and I am always striving to learn more and improve in my profession. My experience working domestic and international assignments makes it less challenging to adapt to new places, I am bilingual Mexican-American.
