As part of NatWest Group’s Software Engineering Graduate Scheme, I’ve worked across three distinct technology teams—gaining hands-on experience in Java Backend-dev, DevOps, and mobile development—while building a strong foundation through a software engineering bootcamp at the start of the program.Rotation 1 – Hosting Solutions (DevOps & Infrastructure)Worked on the bank’s core infrastructure systems with a focus on CI/CD pipelines, observability, and VMware automation. Contributed to improving deployment processes and operational resilience.Rotation 2 – GlobalSend (Java Microservices)Built and maintained backend microservices for high-volume messaging infrastructure. Developed in Java, working within a service-oriented architecture, following best practices in testing, versioning, and scalability.Rotation 3 – Android Mobile Development (Retail Banking App)Developed features for the NatWest retail banking app using Kotlin and Android Jetpack libraries. Gained experience in agile mobile development, UI implementation, and collaborating with design and QA teams to deliver a seamless customer experience.Alongside my technical rotations, I worked on a year-long data project as part of the winning team of DigitalX Challenge 2023, enhancing an internal feedback system (“Bubbles”) used by thousands across the bank. I collaborated with stakeholders, applied data-driven insights using language models, and presented solutions to senior leadership. Outside engineering, I serve as the SEWP Social Lead, organizing networking events to strengthen graduate engagement, and contribute to the Marketing & Communications Council, where I manage internal communications and drive outreach for the graduate community.
